Background
Dr McSweeney is a Consultant Forensic Psychiatrist and Approved Clinician. He has worked in secure hospitals at all levels of security, and with mentally disordered offenders in prison and in the community. He trained in the Oxford Deanery and the East Midlands.
He has a special interest in medical education, teaches doctors across the region, and has published on safe practice in forensic mental health settings and the use of telecommunications technology in psychiatry.
Expert witness work
Dr McSweeney provides reports and oral evidence in cases including serious violent offences, sexual offences, arson and harassment, for the Crown and Magistrates’ Courts, the Parole Board and the First-tier Tribunal (Mental Health).
