Background
Dr Garrett is a Consultant Forensic Psychiatrist with experience in high, medium and low secure hospitals, in prisons and in a community forensic team. He has worked in services for men with mental illness, a secure women’s service, an in-patient personality disorder service and a forensic service for older adults.
Expert witness work
Dr Garrett has acted as an expert witness since 2016. He has provided written and oral evidence on insanity, fitness to plead, partial defences to murder and hospital disposal, and has given oral evidence in the Crown Court and the Royal Courts of Justice.
