Dr Garrett is a Consultant Forensic Psychiatrist currently working in a Male Mental Illness in-patient service. He has clinical experience of working in high, medium and low secure psychiatric hospitals, within prisons and as part of a Community Forensic Team. He has worked in a secure women’s service, an in-patient personality disorder service and an in-patient forensic service for older adults.
Dr Garrett has worked as an expert witness since 2016. He has provided written and oral evidence in a variety of cases covering topics such as insantiy, fitness to plead, partial defences to murder and hospital disposal. He has given oral evidence before the Crown Court and the Royal Courts of Justice.
Dr Garrett is in good standing with the Royal College of Psychiatrists and is approved under Section 12 of the Mental Health Act 1983.
