Dr Simon Gibbon is a Consultant Forensic Psychiatrist who works full time in the NHS at Arnold Lodge in Leicester.
He holds the degrees of Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor or Surgery (MBBS, Imperial College, London, 2000), has membership of the Royal College of Psychiatrists (MRCPsych, 2005) and a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in Forensic Psychiatry (2009). He is approved by the Secretary of State under Section 12 (2) of the Mental Health Act 1983.
Dr Gibbon is also an Honorary (Consultant) Associate Professor at the University of Nottingham. He has published numerous academic papers in peer-reviewed scientific journals and has co-authored a textbook on forensic mental health. He is a Clinical and Educational Supervisor for higher trainees in Forensic Psychiatry and teaches on a number of university courses (at both undergraduate and postgraduate level).
He has particular interests in personality disorder, sexual offending, fire-setting, risk assessment and deafness. He is trained in and able to use a number of personality and risk assessment tools. Dr Gibbon has successfully completed the Bond-Solon Expert Witness Course and regularly produces reports for the Courts, Parole Board and Mental Health Tribunals (MHTs).
